Music Therapist, Director of IU Music Therapy
Nam Kim, MTA, MT-BC
Nam is a board-certified music therapist with over 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with autism and developmental disabilities. She studied music composition and music education in South Korea, and studied music therapy in a master’s program in Kansas, U.S.
Nam is certified by both the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) and the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) in the United States.
With respect, empathy, and a deep belief in each individual's potential, Nam strives to inspire personal growth through music. She skillfully adapts and tailors each session to meet her clients’ unique needs—helping to create a motivating and engaging therapeutic environment.
Every day, Nam continues to learn how music can positively influence lives. As a therapist, she not only believes in the power of music and its clinical applications but also values the personal growth that unfolds across a person’s lifespan.
Music Therapist
Diane Kim, BMT
Diane is a dedicated music therapist (BMT) who is passionate about helping individuals of all ages discover their strengths and express themselves through music in a safe, engaging, and supportive environment. She completed her Bachelor’s of Music Therapy at Capilano University, where she gained valuable clinical experience working with children in an elementary school setting.
In addition to her work with children and youth, Diane has over five years of experience working with seniors, including those living with dementia and other age-related challenges. She is deeply committed to using music to promote connection, engagement, and quality of life for older adults, as well as supporting their families and caregivers.
With over six years of experience teaching private music lessons and more than 10 years as a children’s ministry teacher at her local church, Diane brings a wealth of knowledge in connecting with people of all ages and abilities. Her approach emphasizes creativity, play, and relationship-building as essential tools for supporting developmental, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Diane’s background in both therapeutic and educational settings allows her to tailor each session to meet the unique needs of every individual. She is deeply passionate about using music to foster confidence, independence, and joy in the children, youth, adults, and seniors she works with.
Art Therapist
Hae Soo Jo
Art therapy sessions will be conducted during the summer.
Hae Soo Jo is a professional Art Therapist operating a private practice in the Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland areas of Canada, as well as a BC certified elementary school teacher in Langley. She obtained a BA in Psychology and Counselling and a BEd in Education and Early Learning from Simon Fraser University, and a Master's level Diploma in Art Therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. With 10 years of experience, Hae Soo has been extensively involved in planning and facilitating individual and group art therapy programs and workshops. Having served as a Behavioral Interventionist and Education Assistant for children with Autism and Developmental Disabilities for 9 years, she also knows how to effectively work with children and youth with special needs in therapeutic settings. By using creativity as a healing tool, she provides learning opportunities to help them gain various important skills. Hae Soo’s approach to art therapy is both art- and client-centered, based on genuine support and acceptance, openness, empathetic listening, and opportunities for exploration and healing through creative expression. She believes every client has the creativity, the need for creation, and the ability to heal themselves through creative expression.
